The German twisted cast on is an easy, super stretchy cast on that can be used for a variety of projects.
It is very popular for sock knitters that prefer to knit their socks cuff down. I also use it in my socks and I have also used it in some cowl projects where stretch is an absolute must.

I used 64 grams of the SMC Select Extra Soft Merino Alpaca yarn that I got as a gift in the Navy colourway. I did lengthen the forehead part of the brim a little bit and made some notes on my Ravelry Project page if you are interested in that.

It is my newest sock pattern that I have designed to be knit toe up with a heel flap and gusset, This pattern was designed especially for the Annual DB Socktober 2023 Sock A Long.
I love getting together with fellow crafters and making socks together. We have an amazing Instagram group where everyone shares their progress, ask for help especially with yarn combinations.

In the latest episode of the Crafty Stitches Podcast I share four finished projects of which one is my fourth Ranunculus sweater. This pattern by Midori Hirose is just such a stunning pattern to knit – I am already dreaming about a fifth version…
Well as I mentioned I finished the Ranunculus that I knit it Yama Fiber Arts, Craft and Design Yarn – it is the Merino Linen singles which is a 90%Superwash Merino and 10% Linen blend in the colourway Masala.
I used 268g for this sweater so just under 1000 meters. I made lots of notes on my Ravelry Project page for this sweater and you can look at that here if you like.
Continue reading Crafty Stitches Podcast – Episode 42 is now up !This pattern has been in the works for quite a while. I have started the shaped cowl journey with Double Knit yarn and actually published the fingering weight version of the pattern first! I have made my first cowl in Double Knit yarn in 2020 and immediately deicided that it need some improvement to fit better. And that is how the Simple Shaped Cowl was born! I added shaping to the knitted cowls and LOVED it so much that I have now knitted 5 of them in total! Oh no wait – I knit 6 of them if you count the cotton version I made with drawstrings…
Well the shaping and the length, of course! This cowl is designed to be smaller at the top and wider at the bottom hem so that it lays nicely around the neck for ultimate warmth. It is long enough to be pulled up over the head to act as a hat and cowl – all in one – keeping your ears warm AND your neck! I wear mine all the time, especially when walking the dog and love the fact that I can just pull it up when it is cold and windy to cover my ears and I do not need to wear a hat!
Continue reading It’s finally here! The Simple Shaped Cowl – DK – Knitting PatternMy newest pattern came out on Friday the 14th of July – and it is my first Tunisian crochet pattern.
The dishcloth only uses tunisian simple stitches and tunisian purl stitches to make the texture pattern. The border around the dishcloth is just normal conventional crochet – just to finish it off. On the YouTube Channel you will find three tutorials that can assist you with the techniques used in this pattern:
I prefer to make a small project like a dishcloth to learn a new skill or new techniques as you get a finished product much quicker than trying to make a long scarf. And if you feel you need a little more practice – you can make multiple dishcloths! It is up to you!

So you want to knit but dont know where to start? The most important thing to keep in mind is to start small. It is just human to want to start knitting and make this gorgeous scarf or shawl that you saw on Pinterest, but lets be honest – you need to walk before you run and to learn to walk you first have to crawl… so always start small.
One of the best things about starting with a smaller project in mind is that you will have a finished object so much quicker! And what better to motivate you to get better at this newly learned skill, than a finished project?
