I really love making in many different ways and I love to share these with you.
Die Boervrou website had many different goals in the past, at first it was a place where a friend and I shared our passions with you. My friend chose to leave the website for personal reasons (yes we are still very good friends and speak to each other every single day!) and I continued with the website. I had a life altering experience in 2016 and no matter how hard I tried I just could not make any content at the time. So for a little while I was missing in action and it took me a while to get back into my crafting and making rhythm.
For a while I made physical items that I sold in the online shop, which included crochet makes like bookmarks, decorations, scarves, blankets and later on I started a small bakery and moved over to baking and homemade jams etc.
This all was a wonderful experience, and I learned a lot about people and a few terrible lessons too…. I eventually started to make it full circle back to the beginning of the website and eventually removed all the baking and physical products from the shop and now only the knitting and crochet patterns remain.
I made the hard decision to close the small bakery in the beginning of 2025. I took a little break from everything for a few months to try and decide what makes sense for me and what brings JOY to me and the people that I care about.
I think I have finally settled on the thing that makes me most happy: sharing my knitting and crochet designs: Check them out here in my Online Shop

There is a whole section here on Handcraft that I definitely plan on growing as it is one of my biggest passions. Stay tuned for that.
I also plan on sharing more recipes here with you, bring some of the old posts on the website to the surface with some translation (yes most things before 2016 was only posted in afrikaans although some have been translated since then)
I still make videos that I post on my YouTube Channel. The videos are mostly crafting videos about knitting, crochet and tunisian crochet, tutorials, and there is a series of Daily Vlog videos with my knitting and crochet projects in them. There is also lots of Podcast style videos that I made but took a little break from in 2025. You can have a look at that here: YouTube Channel
I am so very proud of all my knit and crochet designs that came to life over these past few years and I am so grateful that I get to share them with you.
I love seeing and hearing about your journey creating your very own items from my designs. It makes my heart sing and bring me so much JOY.
My patterns always have tutorials added to them, so that if you are more of a visual learner you can also see what I mean. Some patterns have photo tutorials in them and other have video tutorials that can be watched on YouTube. Some of these tutorials are exclusively made for the patterns.
My biggest wish is to inspire you with these knitting and crochet patterns, to teach you how easy it can be to create your own decor, garments, socks or accessories using simple stitches in crochet and knitting.
Most projects look so very complicated and in reality once you understand a few stitches, it becomes much simpler and easier than you could have ever dreamed of! A few simple stitches put together in a specific order can create magic on your knitting needles or crochet hook.
